Survivor Series - Plans for the Card

What the Survivor Series Card Should Look Like

With Survivor Series looming slightly more than one week away, we are still left with very few matches. There is only one Smackdown left (not counted the recorded one) and one Raw. There needs to be more matches with significance to the fans. A compelling story will be difficult to set up in one show, so this leaves setting up matches that have meaning and can affect future stories. There are also no Survivor Series matches set as of yet.

The first match I would set up is one featuring the tag-team champions, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater. Because we have seen regular tag title matches in the past, this match should be a 4 on 4 Survivor Series style match. Throw in Mcgillicutty and Harris and the Nexus team is formed. Their opponents should be the Hart Dynasty and the Usos. There will be an added stipulation. The surviving member of either team is guaranteed a title shot. Now this will lead to three possible outcomes, all appealing to me.

First, Harris or Mcgillicutty could be the sole survivor. They would be considered the number one contenders, adding some tension to the Nexus faction. Nobody would expect this outcome.

Second, either team could score a legitimate pin fall over the current title holders. This would put some credibility back in the tag division and we could have a good build up to the next PPV.

Lastly, one member of the Hart’s and one member of the Uso’s could be left as a survivor when the last member of Nexus is eliminated. Now heading into TLC we have a 3 way dance. This would bring back such nostalgic memories of the original TLC match with the Dudleys, Edge and Christian, and the Hardy’s. There could be a match every week on Raw between the teams and the build up would be huge. This is the best bet in my mind.

The match would do a lot for everyone. It would give support for the tag teams, a way to use Nexus since they’re barred from ringside during Barret’s match, compelling story for the next PPV, and since they have experience together…a great match. This needs to be set up asap.

The next match I would create is a US title match. This one is a little trickier since Bryan hasn’t been feuding much with anyone as of late. There aren’t that many people on Raw I could see having a show stealing match, but one I think would do the best is John Morrison. Morrison and Bryan have already shown they can put on a great match as seen in their last three way bout with the Miz. Their skills together would amaze everyone.

Now while John Morrison is feuding with Sheamus at the moment, this could actually be seen as a good thing. Sheamus beat down Bryan recently on Raw, so this match could easily lead to a three way match. Sheamus is a former WWE champion, so he would bring credibility to the match, as well as being seen as a huge threat. He’d also be a heel and would help pump the crowd whenever Bryan or Morrison hit a high flying move on him. Together the three could put on a hell of a match that the fans would love. I would book this match as soon as possible.

Another match needed is for the Intercontinental title. There has been some build up with MVP recently. I would like to cement this match as official and let have a good technical match. It would be great if Dolph can pull a great match without Bryan and would help bring MVP up from the gutters.

I would try to throw together another Survivor Series style match. I could see using a team from both Raw and Smackdown, but I worry that would seem too much like Bragging Rights. Either way, this would allow many underused stars to appear on the PPV. It would be very hard to make a 5 on 5 of just Raw members that the fans would really want to see. Smackdown stars would have a really good card, assuming we use just one brand.

I would prefer to see a Smackdown only Survivor Series match featuring people who have been feuding.

Team 1:

Alberto Del Rio

Tyler Rex

Drew McIntyre

Cody Rhodes

Jack Swagger

Team 2:

Rey Mysterio

Kaval

Big Show

Kofi Kingston

Chris Masters

The ending should be used to give a big push to someone. Kofi Kingston would be my choice.

If time permitted, we could add a Diva’s Survivor series match. The remaining members who survived would be the #1 contender. And no better person (or team) after their performance on Raw last week, the Bellas! The beauty is everyone would expect a single winner to the match, yet with both Bella’s as contenders, they would be perfect to battle the co-champions of Laycool.

I would make this a 4 on 4, featuring the teams of Bellas, Melina, and Gail Kim versus a heel stable of Alicia Fox, Maryse, Tamina, and either the non-competing member of Laycool or Beth Phoenix if she is capable. Having a Bella pin Phoenix would add credibility to them as contenders, and we could have a good feud leading up to TLC.

So with these matches added our card is now as follows

Current:

Laycool vs. Natalya – Divas Championship

Edge vs. Kane – World Heavyweight championship

Orton vs. Barret – WWE Title

Mine:

Survivor Series Match – #1 Tag Contender Match - Nexus vs the Hart’s and Uso’s

Survivor Series Match – Team Del Rio vs Team Mysterio

US Title Match – Daniel Bryan vs. John Morrison vs. Sheamus

Intercontinental Title Match – Dolph Ziggler vs. MVP

Survivor Series Match - #1 Diva’s Contender Match

I would love this card, and imagine most WWE fans would as well.
